February & Self-Love: A Tradition Worth Celebrating
With the arrival of February, conversations around love fill the air. But for years, I’ve been working with a different perspective—one that turns the focus inward. Self-love as a practice, as a foundation, and as a commitment to yourself.
While the world emphasizes romantic love this month, I have long championed February as a time for deep self-connection, inner healing, and honoring the relationship you have with yourself. Because at the heart of every transformation is the love you cultivate within.
Why Self-Love? Why February?
February is often associated with grand gestures of love, but what about the love that sustains you daily—the one that isn’t dependent on someone else? Self-love isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity. It shapes how we show up in the world, in our relationships, in our dreams, and even in our healing.
When we ground ourselves in self-love:
+ We stop seeking validation from people or situations that don’t nourish us.
+ We become more resilient, making decisions from a place of inner strength rather than fear.
+ We allow ourselves to heal—not because we "should," but because we deserve to be whole.
But let’s be honest—self-love is often misunderstood.
Self-Love Is Not…
+ A constant feeling of self-admiration—it’s a practice, not a mood.
+ About perfection—self-love includes the messy, unpolished parts of us.
+ Just about self-care routines—though they help, self-love runs much deeper.
Self-Love Is…
+ The courage to embrace your imperfections and still see your worth.
+ Knowing when to rest, when to challenge yourself, and when to walk away.
+ Honoring your emotions instead of dismissing or shaming them.
And at the core of self-love is self-compassion. The ability to meet yourself where you are, without judgment. To extend the same kindness to yourself that you would to a dear friend. Self-compassion allows us to hold space for our struggles without letting them define us.
This is the foundation of the work I do—whether it’s through one-on-one work, my writings, or events such as the upcoming Rekindle Your Magic retreat I’m co-facilitating, where we’ll explore restoration, empowerment, and deep connection in ways that go beyond the surface.
